Endocrine-huh???
Gluta-what???
Firstly our endocrine system is “the collection of glands that produce hormones that regulate metabolism, growth and development, tissue function, sexual function, reproduction, sleep, and mood, among other things.” – taken straight from Google.
Glutathione is our KEY ANTIOXIDANT and DETOX agent, naturally made in our body. “DETOX” gets thrown around with “juice cleansers” far too often – it might sound refreshing to have a complete gut reset with only juice and whilst it might not hurt for a day or two it’s not superior to a fully functional liver, that can constantly detoxify our blood all day, everyday without problems.
If you abuse alcohol, smoke often, eat lots of inflammatory, gut sensitive foods as-well as packaged and processed foods your body faces the tough challenge of eliminating these toxins, not to mention the expensive make-up and skin care that is filled to the brim with chemicals.
An antioxidant ensures free radicals (toxins) are removed from the body to reduce and prevent cellular damage which looks like early signs of aging including wrinkles and grey hair, chronic stress, anxiety, depression, increased risk of cancer, headaches and PMS in some ways due to lack of oestrogen clearance.
Let’s say you have a polluted river and you dump hard rubbish into this river. What do we have? A more polluted river! This is exactly what happens to the liver when you only engaged in behaviours that are toxic to the body. The liver is already so clogged up and cannot “just keep up” with more reckless dumpage of toxins.
You may take me as extreme but if you are engaging in these toxic behaviours daily and or weekly you don’t have the luxury of ‘one won’t hurt’. This is because you are increasing your risk of health issues every time you indulge in your ‘one won’t hurt’ habit. I look at things from a long-term view. If it isn’t good for me now, how will it be good for me when I’m older?
For both men and women it looks like reduced fertility, quantity and quality of life, and not to mention developmental disorders like IBD, stress, anxiety, depression, Increased risk of cancer, early signs of aging like grey hair and wrinkles, even increased or irregular PMS symptoms.
For women who
SO, how can you regulate your own natural production of GLUTATHIONE and therefore your longevity?
Well I don’t mean to sound like a broken record but I bet you know where I’m going with this.
- Maintain healthy gut bacteria
- Avoid food sensitivities
- Reduce or eliminate alcohol
- Get quality sleep; sleep recycles glutathione to its active form
- Sweat! It eliminates toxins too
SO a compromised body is a compromised glutathione, therefore blocking the removal of toxins, meaning you are a toxic pool.
